So if you are involved in an auto accident, does the insurance company pay for tri-coat paint. I've been asked this question, and yes insurance will pay for tri-coat if that is what is on the car. Actually, there are quite o few new cars that come with tri-coat from the factory. The Mustang we are painting in this video is an original 3 stage paint job. In this video students in the auto body and paint class are demonstrating auto body painting. They are showing auto painting for how to spray a tri coat three stage candy paint job. This is being done on an red metallic Mustang. The paint code is an E9 factory number. We are using PGG paint with 2021 PPG Clear Coat. I am planning on painting my car myself my question is what is the best Can Paint to use on a car. I know I may just need to have a professional do it but I don't have that type of money. Plus I find it to be a good project for me sense it's my first car. The car is a1987 Honda Accord.

Would this finish bake ok in the 75 degree sun all day or does it need to be heated higher than that?

Wondering why they didn't start in the centre of the hood and work down towards the fender?Wouldn't you run the risk of possibly touching the freshly painted fender doing it from the fender up instead of from the hood down? Painting the fender first also may catch any dust or debris that may be blown from the hood.

Great vid. How many quarts does it take to do this size of car? Is there any benefit to using more than 2 coats of paint? Also how much clear do you need and also is there any benefit to using more coats of clear?

What about the jambs? Behind the gas door? Under hood and trunk lid? It'll look good sitting still, but as soon as you open any of those things it'll be an embarrassment.

I am painting a quarter panel.I have sanded on this panel for an hour with 300 grit yet I still get a white powder when sanding.Seems I cant get through the clear. Can I go ahead and shoot my latex primer? do you know flash times between primer and wet sanding and the time between paint and wet sanding and then shooting clear coat? thank you

just got my car repainted I dk anything about car painting. I think doesn't look the way I thought it was supposed to. it has a lot of what looks like tiny heat bumps, can anyone tell me what this means? Also I can see the shiny metal under the paint it has a tint pearl like color but it looks as if it was only sprayed once.

After doing a lot of research on painting a car (because i'm getting a new paint job for mine) it seems to me that everyone has their own way of doing it, so essentially it's like an art form. Yes there is a right/wrong way of doing it, but in terms of getting it done right, everyone has their own method. It's on the client now to pick the right place to get it done or prepare properly if doing it on their own.
