for steel you need power not speed. use a feed calculator http://www.daycounter.com/Calculators/GCode/Feed-Rate-Calculator.phtml

That was just a test if I could mill steel and I needed bigger hole in the metal platte :) Machine survived but it's not designed to be used like this. It's used for wood, plastics and aluminum

I'm not exactly an expert, but that sound isn't good and it seems there's too much speed for steel. You'll ruin the bit fast and may damage the bearings. Probably that's the reason someone put a dislike. But of course sometimes there's no other choice and it's better this way than not getting job done :)
