the new 6.7 is an awesome diesel engine. the power is great and the engines are very smooth. my personal preference is the 6.2 gas, 7.3IH, and the new 6.7 diesel.

I wish dodge wouldn't have switched from the 5.9 to the 5.7 Hemi. The 5.9 was a solid engine that would routinely get 200k-300k. The first gen 5.7 are know for needing a ton of work at the 160k-180k.

The only time I'd run a diesel, and it'd be a Cummins, would be Hotshot towing. Other than that, it really isn't necessary.
-
Diesel all day.. Rollin coal is the only way to go.. But droppping 85k hurt
-
I would rather prefer a gasoline engine because when you buy a diesel engine be prepared to Fork out tons of money when it comes to maintenance that's why I rather go with a gasoline engine
-
I like diesel and gm is the best
-
I could listen to this guy talk for hours

I know people who have went bankrupt trying to maintain and keep their diesels running. If you can't pull your trailer with today's gas engines which have twice the power of the 460 and 454 motors of yesterday you have a problem.

the Ford 6.4L I've owned two of them they are fun to do burnouts with but they are a 150,000 mile throw away motor so I got rid of then before I had problems. And the 6.0L is a amazing engine but you have to put $4,000-8,000 into the motor to make it last like a 7.3L and the other good part is no one wants them because of the bad history. but wright now we are running a 2011 6.7L and a 2012 6.7L and they are crazy when it comes to power and if you modify them I'm hearing numbers of 1,300 foot pounds of torque witch is crazy but we truly love them and they out preform the gas motors

I'm thinking about buying a Mercedes M Class 3.0 AWD diesel...Yes or no?
Or any other SUV that's diesel over gas? -
Ford never made a 6.1L diesel. I think you mean a 6.0
-
My 04 f250 with the 5.4 has had no major problems just changing the oil
-
2006 Ford F-250 crew cab long bed 6.0 egr delete high pressure oil pump engine oil cooler that was the best truck ever
-
Haha damn why is everyone so upset about the 6.1 liter thing
-
I own a 2007 durmax classic and a 2008 suburban. milage is about the same until you hook a trailer (doesn't take a genus to figure out witch gets better then).
when buying a diesel you need to ask yourself a couple of questions and if you answered no to any then don't bother with a diesel.
1 are you going to be using it for what it's purpose is? they are NOT daily drivers
2 can or will you be able to afford the maintenance coasts of a diesel? they use gallons of oil not quarts, tires are more on average aswell.
3 after dropping 50 to 70 thousand dollars on a new diesel and the warranty runs out, would you be able to put another 3 to 5 thousand dollars deleting all the emissions garbage from the truck? the new diesels no matter witch brand you will have to do this or pay hundreds every couple of months getting them out of limp mode and replacing emissions parts or buy a 2007 or earlier truck with miles on it and roll the dice someone took care of it.
just my thoughts on the matter. -
Ford 7.3 was made by Navistar International. FYI. Wish they still made em!
-
You have no clue about Diesel engines. They never had a 6.1 litre in one and Ford never built the 6 Oh or the 6 four. Stick to gas pots

I've got a 6.7 power stroke now that gets better mileage with twice as much torque and pulling power than the 5.4 gas motor i traded on it--and my tai jetta was great till the guvment said it gives a hoot about how much it pollutes
