On 17 October 2013, one of the most iconic landmarks on the 54th Engineer Battalion's footprint was removed. The M728 Combat Engineer Vehicle, or 'C-E-V,' is a military engineering vehicle based on the M60A1 Patton main battle tank chassis. For the 54th Engineers, it has long adorned the main entrance to the Battalion headquarters, emblazoned with the names of the current commander and command sergeant major of the battalion. Unfortunately that will no longer be the case, as it was loaded on the back of a tractor trailer to stand guard at a new home at one of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command's subordinate units.
