@gunnlover well last I knew a throttle was a device that controls the rate of which fuel is delivered into an engine and can be a foot pedal, a lever, a switch, or a rheostat so if you've never been around diesel engine applications ie tractors, heavy equipment, and trucks then yes guess you would have a valid argument

@gunnlover I didn't see anything about gas in fuseli's comment... and on older diesel engines with mechanical injection systems it is beneficial to increase the throttle position to about 50% to aide in starting

@fuseli no throttle needed this engine has a common rail injection system so I left it at a low idle and used a little starting fluid

@fuseli probably not even touching the gas bc its diesel and you arent supposed to pump a diesel. haha

Can you please do more cold starts, but from the inside and show what your right boot is doing on the throttle?
