my dad had a 1936 Cat 22. found it outside a mine for sale about 20-25 years ago i think. he rebuilt that thing from the ground up and he said he could get it to idle at between 100 and 200rpm.

never started it after restauration. thats a pitty.

The grey and red paint scheme was typical of Cat products built in the late 1920's. This machine was most likely repainted yellow at some point in it's life. The restoration team decided to take it back to it's original colors.

caterpillar still has 8,000 of its employees in the USA, the 12,000 in china do the same work as 4,000 would in the USA, IN china, not permitted to work under labor contracts to prevent human rights abuse/

All that work and they never even drove it. Still a good looking old crawler though.
