awesome video thanks for sharing

I've always been curious about those machines; even went so far as to take a pre-apprentice course in Heavy-Duty Mechanics. That didn't work out though. I ended up making toilets for the next 27 years. Go figure..... You've explained the machine well without going into technical jargon that would lose the average viewer. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself here. Thank you.

Cat oughta hire you as a commentator. Your voice is very distinctive and you know your stuff. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks!

Those things just look mean and nasty. Cat definitely has the best looking design. The newer D6's and up just look nasty.

PAmining , as was the case of the 455A, I later moved into this ,the sweetest dozer I ever sat in the cab, the D-10 !
. One thing is any good mechanic can take a helper and change out engine in a short time, also roll the trans out the back, 4 Hrs out and back in the rock again. It had the heart of the D-10, as was the same of the D-9G straight stack , both had "heart" Thank You PAmining once again for many memories being brought back. . -
You should do some more video documentaries of various machines. I'd watch the shit out of them! Cheers.

i remember our scool had a D7.. or D6. don't remember which one. but one thing that puzzled me about it was that the driver's seat was mounted at an angle. pointing slightly to the right. have you come across that before? any idea what's the point of that?
-
Am I correct in you saying they don't make d10 anymore.?

I need to shoot some video of this particular machine running I've had the privilege of running this very machine. Should note though that the blade setup on this D10 is not factory. The cab is much cleaner now and has a new seat and working A/C, and no longer a mouse condo.

The D-10 and D-11 aren't very good working around draglines when you need to move dirt quickly, as they were built for slowly moving a large amount of dirt. And they really shine on a down hill push. But they were much easier to work on than the older Caterpillar tractors. The transmission comes out the back on built-in rollers. Plus, if you needed to change an engine and the starter would still operate, you could unpin the lower radiator housing, push down on the blade control, and turn the starter, then the entire radiator and it's housing would fold towards the blade and out of the way. Two men could change the engine in 4 to 6 hours easy.

I remember the first D-10 I ever saw showing up on a job site in Orange , Ca. in the late 70's. This old gal in this video looks like it earned it's living for the owner. Looking at those track grousers I would say it has some hours on them. Great dozer for sure.
