Machines | Caterpillar CTL And MTL Undercarriage Comparison
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Comparing Caterpillars CTL (compact track loader) and MTL (multi terrain loader) undercarriages using a Cat 279C (CTL), 277C (MTL) and 299D (CTL). This was filmed when I went out to Caterpillar's proving grounds last year. It was a pretty neat comparison and really showed the different undercarriage styles. I wish we had some competitors brands to see how they compared. In general I liked some things about the Cat track loaders and didn't like some things but they definitely had the smoothest ride of any track loader I have ever operated. Like what you see? That's what I noticed too. The ride control didn't seem to work well at all, it made the bucket bounce way more.

If Bobcat invited me out to their facility I would gladly make some good videos about their products. I have been invited by 3 different manufactures to there manufacturing pants and proving grounds. But nothing from Bobcat, kind of ironic?

Bobcat ninja, how about doing a vid on Bobcat Roller Suspension... It's a heaps better system.
-
Yea, was kind of trying to figure out what was so much better about ride control..... those machines lose more of the load...

Thanks no problem.

I still like Bobcat better.

Thanks!

He did something similar not as descriptive though.

Well kid stick with the first two, the last one was way worse!

Its funny the 299 lost more dirt that either of the other two.

This is a great video, thank you for putting this together. This answers a lot of questions about these machines.

Thanks, Yes I went to the cat manufacturing plant as well. I have been to the New Holland/ Case plant as well. Very cool experience.

Very informative. Try to get a tour of the Manufacturing plant. John Deere Loaders are built in Dubuque, Iowa. I went twice for our 2002 and the 2006. Great experience, and you'll learn a lot about your machine.
