I considered it. The cost of tools was too high.

I'm from a small town that is surrounded by farms forestry and the town is also home to many construction companies that go to cities or job sites. But there is no shops or companies that do mobile repair. I want to go get my repair license from cat just like my father did and start a company to fill that demand. with hopes in the future I can train others to become the same. it's sad that wile I was in school that a college rep said I'm going nowhere in my life because I told her I'm not going to there college to do 4+ years of school to sit behind a desk. That I wanted to be the guy if never met him would not know his name out in the dirt or standing on top of a big machine holding a wrench.

This field is definitely not for everyone though. I tried it and didn't like it at all. I would rather operate the equipment than work on it.

Every single High School in USA should show these videos to kids when they are career planning. They should also mention in these videos that prior training such as Armed Forces mechanics would be ideal to transition to this trade

This is the kind of job once you get a little experience under your belt, start your own business work for yourself.
-
You can work at a bank and make $30 with a clean suit and tie cushy office job compared to a trades technician. So that is why everybody wants a cushy job.
-
Nobody wants to gets their hands dirty anymore.
-
And when they lay you off...and they will lay you off....you have no ticket...just experience in CAT equipment...good luck getting a union job with no ticket.

Do it folks. Everyone else is blind thinking they'll make a ton of money going to college. Now a days everyone has a degree. If you have 1000 doctors equally qualified and 1 clinic those doctors are not going to make a lot of money due to competition. It turns into a biding war and the doctor asking the least for his labor will get the job. No one thinks about being a or a farmer or a mechanic now a days. These jobs are in demand. Supply the demand folks. Basic economics. We're the one's making a killing. While all the college graduates are paying student loans and working at walmart since so many people have the same degree and can't find a job. My own cousin going to the University of San Diego dropped out of school to follow my steps after seeing how much money I'm making. That should tell you something.
If no one in the world wants to flip a burger at mc donalds. I'll do it and I bet you I'll make a killing. Supply the demand... -

If only we could trust the schools, you need to be careful who you hand your money over to.
