We needed to get a concrete box off a trailer this evening and the backhoe didn't want to lift it so the 983 was pressed into service despite having a bad track adjuster seal. The bad seal is why the left track is so loose, and I'm taking it reeeaaal easy to keep the track from coming off. Yeah, we sure could have rigged that box better but it was getting dark (and past dinnertime!) so the first try was what we went with- wasn't pretty but it got it done. I uploaded this because there aren't many 983's left anymore and a chance to see and hear one is becoming a rarity. The unmuffled D343 Cat diesel sounds good, don't it?

Love the machine keep it running as long as you can and keep making videos maybe show off the bucket explain what it is. looks to be a demolition clam, those are rare too.

i did hear of a guy scrapping a older dozer out and it was sad to hear that cause he started it up and loaded it up on to the trailer i hope somebody bought it and has it now

I've always wanted to run a 983. I got to see a 983 dig a basement one time, it was pure awesome! Great vid! I hope to see more of your 983 on here!

Bill, I still have the 983 so I must've told you wrong. This video was from just last month. I was considering letting it go when iron was high- I was offered 3x what I paid for it for scrap- but I didn't have the heart to see it cut.
