Case 450 crawler loader track Idler getting a rework job. TIG welding in various locations around the circumference ( keeps diameter from warping) at high gas flow and lots of energy to get deep penetration for structural purpose (note splatter, not normal for TIG). Followed by filler weld using ARC/ Stick welding technigue

Before welding on that type of idler a breather hole needs to be cut in the side Cat Undercarriage

Really needed to be using a idler machine.....40-s wire with 801 flux ....but if you only have one no big deal......Rebuilding idler cost and down time of a welder doesn't make any since. Aftermaket vs the time it would take to fully rebuild an idler, aftermarket wins hands down. heavy equipment parts researcher...........

Good Question, I spent about $75 in weld wire and my labor. After market or OEM Idler would cost me about $800 including expensive shipping costs because of weight.
