Inspiring young people to choose agricultural engineering was the theme of a free careers forum held at Harper Adams University yesterday. 'Worldwide opportunities in engineering for agriculture' was organised by Harper Adams in conjunction with the Douglas Bomford Trust and the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE). The event was designed to inspire and encourage the next generation of engineers to play a key role in agriculture and food production. Among the speakers was former Chief Scientist, Sir John Beddington, who commissioned the Foresight Report 'Global Food and Farming Futures'. The above video was also shown during the day, to showcase some of the success careers that engineers have achieved within agriculture, and to share thoughts on the opportunities available within the sector.
