So thats why hackers can take control of your car so easily!

So could I make an engine-powered, fully mechanical, hydraulic exoskeleton?
-
Explained??? Really? What? Bullshit.
-
the system on teh old citroen ds solved all these problems in 1955 , and simpler and fail safe ,, ive worked on several - they are far superior to any ive seen since and do not run teh pump unnessesarily .. this guy has never seen or used a ds power steering sys

Great car
-
The 3 things that must remain analogue and not digital on any car I'm riding in are throttle, braking, and for GOD sake steering .
-
My are don't even have power steering 😏 stop being pussies America and put your back into it.

Steering by wire will inherently cool is dangerous simply for the fact their is no backup. If your power steering fails you can still steer the car through brute force and at highway speeds does not require much effort at all. So if you don't have the raw physical power to overcome the steering at low speed less than 10mph you'll probably still be fine even if the car gets dinged up. I've driven cars with no power steering that were supposed to have power steering and it's not very comfortable but completely doable.
For drive by wire steering to be safe it would require 2 completely separate systems that each on its own can steer the car so the failure of one doesn't = wreck. Also at least one of which needs to be able to function for a few minutes even in the event of complete primary power loss. -

They were trialling electric brakes, electric water pumps and electric turbo fans (doesn't require direct exhaust connection) which me inherently suspicious of all. I prefer a direct mechanical backup in case power or electric anything goes haywire. I have always noticed sitting at traffic lights in idle, I turn steering wheel and it adds 200 rpm to engine output required. So when car right on stall point, and you use power steering, can stall at traffic lights. Had a old ford that would regularly do this until I got mechanic to increase idle speed.

guys what sensors are used in EPS? I know torque sensor, vehicle speed sensor and steering angle sensor. Maybe some of you know more and can give me a link to website with detailed information about EPS? appreciated.

My car has no power steering, much better, I can feel exactly what my front wheels are doing to within minute detail.
Of course not having an engine in the front helps make the steering a pleasant thing to do, I don;t need big arms just to park the car :P -
drive by wire...my nightmare lol
-
All EPS I have driven have bad steering feedback. You don't feel the controlling centrifugal force or the terrain beneath. I like hydraulic. May be costlier cars have good feedback
-
how about when the system breaks and you have to rely on manual steering? then what you just simply can't drive your car?
-
how stupid no doubt helps put millions of dollars in car companies hands and maintenance shop i bet that little motor cost 500 to 1000 dollars jokes on us and it will be no doubt to take over in other areas to its almost over the end is near
-
And the day I there are cars with the wheel not attached to the steering gear is a day I stop buying new cars
-
Lane assist, self parking, braking for you systems... Those are all against my religion

Am I the only metalhead that noticed the kid with the Black Dahlia Murder shirt at around 3:00?!?!?!
The power loss is negligible.
