Could not agree more. Lawns at $40 a pop is a lot of mowing. It's taking us all day and tons of fuel, time, and equipment to make $1000 a day. Landscape and tree work will rake in profits. Did a small tree removal the other day we removed two tree $200 per tree, hung Christmas lights, and removes a row of Lilly's for $540. And was there for less than 4hrs. Mowing that much takes over $15, 000 in equipment, 3 guys, and a days worth of work.

I dont make them pay taxs

You can't use that edger to trench irrigation lines. It doesn't go nearly deep enough.
Have you tried selling your customers on concrete mow strips? Much cleaner long term look and you'll make more money. -
$2400 minus at least $400 for the skid steer rental = $1000/day, which is what my mow day net income is for a 2 man crew.. Now if you did that in a day, which looks easily possible, then that is pretty good money.

when I started, I bought a horse troy built tiller, 2 years later I bought a 2nd horse 11hp troy built tiller, customers loved my jobs from doing there gardens to tipping up there lawn so they could reseed or sod, year 3, my customers wanted me to do there spring clean up and there lawn and shrub trimming, fall came, now we has 3 on staff a 22hp troy built lawn mower and a front mount Husqvarna mower and doing gutters in the fall, then as fall went on in the 3rd year they wanted snow removal, so bought 4 foot wide blower for the tractor, spring 4th year there wanting shrub beds, small retaining wall, trees taken out,. well here we go to the rental company, id line up a few jobs that needed the machines, id rent what ever we need, mini ex, skid steer, packers, you name it,, and go do every job that needed the machine/s, to this day, I rent the bigger crap, I been a machine op all my life so this was no big deal, then came all these fly by night hero's, charging penny's on the dollar, after 4 years of them coming and going, I had enough, and shut it all down, sometimes I wish I didn't, I miss it big time, I still have all my equipment, its been parked serval years, but I run then all a bit each year.. I was up to 7 employs but was sick of running my but off giving pricing, and getting 2 out of 50, and getting calls co come clean up after there 1st or 2nd company, or should I say bum boys with nothing but a car, make shift trailer, brooms and old push mowers, thanks but now its going to cost you 3x my price, I had to step away. it was killing me to see people so badly burned, but they never learned from one year to the next...

Edges need work
-
as a mexican american from california who watched his dads 30 year landscaping business. These guys over charge, under work and have waaaay to much expensive equipment you dont need lol
-
Hi stan i love all your videos. I would love to do this but i have no experience. I dont know what plants go well together or where to begin. Any ideas?
-
We have never installed edges on anything but patios walkways and drip edges
-
ive personally with a crew of 10 guys fully prepped the beds (weeding, hedge trimming, edging, clean up) and then mulched about 120 yards in one day. it was right around the corner from our yard so trucking it back and forth with 3 dump trucks each made 4 trips. i think its a goodway tomaie quickmoney
-
hey stan, here in jersey, this would be a little different of a job. the edge you made is most prevalent and preferred around here by homeowners and landscapers alike, at both residential and commercial sites. i too have the echo bed redefiner and love it. but i wouldnt use it or recommend it to bury any sort of sprinkler or utility line, being as it is not very shallow.
if another landscaper/ lawn care company was to come along and hit the line with an edger, if the property was not flagged out, it could pose a large issue. i would definitely go deeper.
Another thing, why were you dropping the mulch onto a tarp? is it not nessecary for you to have a dump truck? around here everyone loads wheelbarrows straight from the dump body of the truck, no lifting required. just raise the body up some as you go too and it helps it slide down. let me know if you ever seen/tried this. -
Working with home builders was my best venture. Laying sod and irrigation before the housing crash =/
-
You should get a power dump in one of your trucks
-
do people really pay 2400$ for such little work? lol
-
Hey dirt monkey can you make a job about how to market and find jobs to innvoice
-
want to try out that echo but too expensive for just an attachment $600? I'd rather use a proper bed edger and be done in about 1 minute 30 seconds. I also use my commercial mower to pull out small things like that and my truck like kalfas
-
Starting lawn-care and just got a lead on putting in SOD BUT WITH YOUR HELP i know i can do this .
-
Thanks i really needed this
-
