Building a Bragg Creek driveway. I’m located west of Bragg Creek, which is located west of Calgary Alberta. Here in the foothills, building a driveway means clearing trees and grading a slope up and around hills. So I had and arborist come and clear and opening about 7 metres wide. The driveway is about 150 metres long and 3 metres wide with ditches on both sides. I hired an excavator who used a small hoe, a skid steer plough and a compactor to build the driveway. We had a truck to haul roots and topsoil to a dump site on the property and we had 28 loads of gravel and crushed stone brought in from a local quarry. We dug a “borrow pit” to excavate the mineral clay from a field near the driveway to raise the level of the driveway at the approach with the county road. Two culverts were installed to allow water to drain away. This is a record of the work in progress. It took 5 days to build the road.
