Machines | Build a Spooky Fog Machine Chiller - DIY Cheap and Easy
videos | at work | information | view | construction
To make fog machines smoke crawl along the floor, it must first be cooled. With only a couple of inexpensive parts and a few minutes of time, we will show you how to build this DIY Fog Chiller. Build it for your next party! Yes, we had a few problems with this one but it did finally work out.

a stanley blade works nice

this is my first attempt at being a "Haunter" and your idea is very good, I did see one guy who used dry ice and at exit of that smoke he used an ordinary garbage bag slit at the sealed end and this forced the fog to flatten considerably
-
why half ass some thing just spend the money and do it right
-
Well, it's not cheap if you use an battery operated drill AND the actual smoke machine. Smh
-
add dry ice. it will add smoke. cool the smoke better. and linger with it keeping it cool.
-
no I do projects way earlier than you
-
You need to put a hose from the cooler to 1" away from the fogger ..... smoke goes into the cooler rolls over the ice & a tube attached to exit side.

Hello,
I have liked your video but how do i make a much more smoke stay on the ground for the wedding couples to enjoy their first dance in it? -
Nope, you want the ice chamber to be without the vacuum tube, the plastic tube is literally shielding the vapor, keeping it from being as cold as you want it, also, the melting ice helps the fog lay on the ground, do it this way and the fog will not rise into the air as in your video so quickly...Put dry ice on the bottom, add a mesh screen and then pile in the 40 lbs of regular ice.. Good first effort though

love the video. We use fog made with dry ice in hot water. No machine needed. The best fog is made from Liquid Nitrogen LN2. All you have to do is open the container and it makes fog, if you pour it out on the driveway be ready for insane fog.....!

There is no such thing as too early for Halloween! lol

Man you did a great job on the video. Now i know how to make one and cheaply.I might try a few different things but all in all, THANK YOU for your time and knowledge.

might work more efficiently if you just eliminated the hose and put the fog machine directly into the hole in the cooler filling it half way with ice. Outlet hole on the other side can be closer to the top. this will cool down the fog much faster and give you a dense crawling fog.

Great idea, just bought my first fog machine and can not wait to try this, thanks.
-
an even simple way would to put the fog solution in the freezer no till it freezes though

I made a similar fog chiller for last year but mine was in a big trash can and I used dryer hose. Problem was that as the night progressed the Ice formed into one big chunk that wasn't in contact with a lot of the hose anymore, so that the fog wasn't cooling down as effectively anymore. Another thing was that the air temperature outside dropped significantly and before the end of the night the fog wasn't staying close to the ground anymore.
I also tried filling the trash can (partially) with some water but that was to much for the dryer hose and it ripped a whole into the hose, filling the rest of the trash can with fog that had no place to escape exept through the gaps between the lid and trash can.
So here is what I'm thinking of doing for this year:
1. find some kind of air tight container
2. drill 2 holes into it kind of like he did in this video
3. have a pipe (preferably made out of some kind of metal) come in through the top whole put a 90 degree on there and route it close to the top of the container leaving the end open
4. through the bottom whole do the same thing but after the 90 degree turn either add nothing of just a very short piece, and add some type of screen to prevent ice form going into the pipe.
5. add some water to the bottom of the container to below the bottom bottom pipe end and fill the rest of the container with ice to just below the top pipe (when adding water keep in mind that the ice you add will raise the water level and that the ice will also melt)
6. seal the container place the fog machine by the tip hole and turn on.
The fog should flow up to the top of the container and come into direct contact with the ice all the way to the bottom pipe. Since the bottom pipe is submerged in ice water it will continue to cool the fog until it exits the container. If the fog doesn't flow out possibly add a small fan at the end of the bottom pipe to help create a low pressure zone inside of the container. -
may want to use a metal hose as it heats and cools faster as well as retain cool for longer periods of time. good video.

Lol
Fought with what? It overheated of course. Just let it cool off just like anything else, otherwise it will catch that place on fire -
you should get some better fog fluid.

Fog machines have a fail safe mechanisim that when they are over heating they shut down and when they are cooled down they kick back on.
