(More at http://youtube.com/user/MilitaryNotes) 2.8.2012 - Members of the 37 Armored Engineer Squadron 35 Engineer Regiment, British Army, Based in Paderborn, Germany, Launched a Python Rocket at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. The Python is used to clear IED's and anti-tank mines and is in service with the British Army.

For those who asked what the stringy thing is that is the explosive charge the rocket is purely there to launch the system. The explosive used is PE4 (Plastic Explosive)

I was there when this was fired. Its was done for two reasons 1. to test the kit to check it worked and 2. The explosives in the python (the big stringy bit behind the rocket) were do to go out of date and needed to be disposed off just did it in the easiest way !
