Machines | Brake chamber out of service getting it fixed.
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Finally, We took a test drive in the parking lot to see if everything is working fine. We find nothing major, but we did experience One Brake chamber problem and needed to be changed by a mechanic. Unfortunately , the mechanic was a new guy and did not know what he was doing at the end he put a new chamber. Further more we discovered that we had two more seals that needed to be changed.. All work was completed and the truck was ready to go over the road. It is a very nice truck, clean and strong. Unfortunately when ever one purchases a truck from a dealer or a person there is an always something needs to be changed. Take a look at some of my other truck videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoMxGsXCThk&list=UUa2HOJBiPVv2GMwkUu0iBeQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I3Z9gEz9Ao&index=21&list=UUa2HOJBiPVv2GMwkUu0iBeQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaDMZAN947A&list=UUa2HOJBiPVv2GMwkUu0iBeQ&index=23 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4JRRAxYOF4&list=UUa2HOJBiPVv2GMwkUu0iBeQ

Nice trick about spinning the can in stead of taking off the clevis.
-
Warn people to replace the chamber and not try to overhaul them without the proper tools and experience or death is certain to happen. They make them now so they can't be opened. Nice video.

How I learne machinic
-
I always replace the piggy back, so easy.
-
Poor Mechanic Rushing like a headless Chicken, be Calm .
-
He is not fixing it, he is replacing the brake chamber.
-
I never understood why guys change the whole maxi chamber if its leaking piggy back is much faster
-
Hack, Buck your just as much of a hack if you hire a mechanic like this
-
The manual adjustment has nothing to do with him removing the brake chamber by unscrewing it from the clevis.if the bolts are seized use a cutoff wheel & if he doesnt have one then he is not properly equipped. Of course you have to set them manually then they "automatically adjust the stroke. Not to be confused with a manual slqck adjuster.you do know the difference dont you @Superrush74

I really hope you're not making these videos for demonstration purposes because it's wrong. Someone is a Trucker trying to be way too cheap. Did he adjust the brakes and is that chamber a long stroke or stroke? Do you even know the difference. Trucking companies like this is why we need commercial vehicle compliance laws.
Then the truck wrecks and the driver don't know what happened. maybe it was those lube soaked brake shoes that you were insisting on reusing.where is the safety stand. if that truck falls on him it just might do him a favor one less dumbass mechanic

Wtf? Who show these guy to change a brake chamber
-
how come he didn't change or free up the rod yoke end? a lot easier than turning that sucker
-
its just a leaking diaphragm if the springs not broken y replace the whole maxi pot that chamber looks pretty new just vice grip the rod undo the clamp with the park brake on. not released... and put a new long stroke diaphragm in it.....
-
how would you adjust camber on a dump truck steering axle? {its 8x8}
-
This is the wrong way to do this at the least the incomplete instruction on how to do it!
-
parking brakes released with a guy still working under the truck. safety not a concern lol
-
i thought you will change the rubber inside the brake chamber..

I'm no mechanic but for this reason I choose to do most repair work myself. I'd tell that guy to take a hike if he tried working that method on my rig. Proper way, disassemble slack adjuster and booster, clean ALL parts thoroughly install new booster with NEW clevis and pins, grease and then proper brake adjustment. This to be done on both sides of axle regardless of booster age on the opposing side. This is driver's trying to save a buck and mechanics work at it's best.
