What i dont understand about engineers is (in this example, BMW) that they sometimes use systems for ages (Powersteering Reservior and Plumbing, VANOS, Oil-Filter Housing) and even from the beginning they are flawed (Leaking, Very soon failure etc) but even though for example the Power-Steering in every BMW was not changed from the 80s up until they switched to electric power steering. And all that time, the hoses and reservior leaked badly. The 1993 VANOS system was built, litterally unchanged, until 2006 even though not a single one made it out of the warranty alive. 20.000 miles and some were already damaged. Shouldnt the Manufacturer step in and redesign this stuff, especially cheap and obvious things?

you guys should do more videos together!
-
technomological differences, makes me want a "starbucks".
-
As an aircraft mechanic, we curse the engineers also. It was cool to hear his take on the fork lift radiator, maybe ill think twice next time im tackling a job and its extra problematic because of engineering. maybe....
-
Also i just want to say...Northstar 32V starter.....
-
You said the oil change and the wiring loom, I instantly thought of Subaru with their oil filter shoved in the middle of exhaust pipes.....I still have scars.
-
my pet hate... the oil filter and the "oil everywhere" that comes with changing one... how come this hasn't been solved by every car maker since 1940?
-
Ease of assembly and cost of construction with labor and if you have to reassemble tooling along the way. Robot software and all that other neat shit.
-
Yes, tires...it's the most noninvasive part of any vehicle and brakes are to me the first thing I look at, because no matter how fast a vehicle is it still has to stop at a reasonable rate or you possibly die.
-
It is so kick ass how the Knowledge and Experience are able to bounce off each other!!!
-
And i'm so glad you two guys can work together and understand your relations between your daily careers that connect more than most people realize.
-
Jason I respect you mainly because you are able to master mathematics. That was the main reason I couldn't and or didn't go further into Engineering. I ended up being a more hands on guy Mechanic.
-
In a dodge neon you have to take off the tire to remove the battery
