Hot Wheels Elite's 1:18 model of the famous DeLorean DMC-12 from the film "Back to the Future" comes to the table for review with a great deal of detail - and more than just a little nostalgia for collectors who remember the original film.

great review!

Great, well thought out review!

Nice model though they dropped the ball on the bottom of the car, the wheels not rotating for flight mode and of course the blue parts which should be black.
-
but how accurate when the boosters of the model is grey and in the movie black?
-
Mattel is making a new version of this and will release sometime next time next year. But it will be a special edition

No no no no no no.....Doc Brown said, "I figured if I was going to build a time machine, I better do it with some style!"

You should do the diamond select back to the future models and the knight rider models. Why? Because not only does it have amazing detail but it lights up with lights and sound.
-
good car

paying attention? what's up with that light blue? the car is great and I never really complained over slight differences....so what, but that light blue kind of sticks out and says BAM. I believe it was just plain black. I'll have to go back and look

We'll I just bought one a few sec ago!

This is an excellent review. Some of the details are wrong and the car sits too high, but it still slays the competition. BTW, I'm unsure about this; but the 'brushed' finish was patchy in the film's version of the car? Having said that, I've noticed that on Hot Wheels' Delorean it varies from model to model... so could be a QC thing - not cool, especially when present on the hood.

Is my memory playing tricks? I thought this version of the car with the Mr Fusion was from BTTF 2 and not the first film?
-
This was a great review! Because of it, I ended up buying one of these.

You make some really great production videos man! Especially with the heavy metal theme \m/

The back vents are supposed to be black, not silver.

I understand Hot wheels are going for detail, but you've got to get the colour or color correct first, The blue is all wrong!

HOW MUCH IS THAT CAR
-
Hot Wheels Elite die casts are cool, I wish I had them, problem is I need a job one day.

I was about to get me one, but then I noticed hotwheels did really f*ck up in their design of the sides of the car. For all the incredible detail they put in all the gizmo's and wiring, it's so hard to believe they didn't pay attention when it came to the side design. The rear wheel well isn't round on a DeLorean. The car here also sits too high. Those metal pipe things under the doors need to hang under the black bottom sidings, not on them. Plus those black bottom sidings are actually way wider than they are here. And then there's of course the colour of those connector boxes in the front that is wrong. For that price I expect more movie/reality accuracy. That is in fact the model of the basic car itself they weren't able to reproduce. What should have been the simplest part in this reproduction. Just sad. I'll stick to my Sun Star models, which may have less detail, but as for the reproduction of the car body itself are way closer to the true deal. As is the stainless steel look, which is another thing hotwheels could've done better.
