@sombersolitude Then go to a community college & earn Associates in Civil Engineering. After 1st or 2nd term join the NG or Reserves & work for the same Army Corps of Engineers as a civilian making over 100k... Thats what my father did... People say this MOS is worth nothing to a certain degree its not true if you earn a Associates/BA/BS! My goal is to become a Engineer Officer in the NG & work for Army Corp Engineers as a Civilian. Ft Leonard Wood is boring as fuck

I'm thinking about taking this mos.. I'm a laborer in a construction company, and I'd like to become a equipment operator.. Though it'll take many years before they'll let me, so I figure I might as well accelerate and take this mos and use the ait training to help..

@SavoyTruffle78 went there for bct and yes its really in the middle of the woods
-
@poastman13 You are with the 84th Engineers aren't you? I was stationed there 97-2001. It was 62E back then now its 21E. Good memories!!
-

-
@alekbanks1990 thanks man preciate the help
-
Hey I picked this job and I see what they gon be doing but I got a question if anyone can answer. Is this a infantry job?
-
NOOO flipatit11. unless you enjoy this job prior to enteing the army do not count on doing it to often. and if your going airborne count on doing it never
-
Im leaving April 19th 2010 for BCT in Fort Leonard Wood. I also do my mos training for this mos there as well... Wish me Luck!! I'll be active duty for Army.
-
Hah, my friend just graduated there. Said it wasn't that hard at all. But then again, it didn't get the nicknames "Slackson Jackson" & "Relaxin Jackson" for nothing. It should be a lot of fun minus the heat. I don't know where you're from, but 95 degrees is a lot worse than it seems with 90% humidity.
-
But let's say you signed a 3 year contract. That's 9 weeks BCT & 12 weeks AIT, so 21 weeks of training (about 5 months). I get that AIT only teaches you the basics, but what about the 2 years, 7 months that you're actually working the job. Wouldn't that be something to take with with you to the civilian world? I'm not trying to argue, I really am asking because I'm considering this MOS & want to know if it will leave me with a hopeful civilian career if I don't stay in for 20 years.

Hence "Army MOS 21E". MOS = Military Occupational Specialty.
-
this had nothing to do with a 21E light machine gun
-
I'm an Engineer company commander. You can be sent anywhere. Join the Army because its the right thing for your life, not because of where you may or may not get sent.
-
have you operated anything yet like bulldozers and stuff
-
could you please tell me what it is like because this is what i wanna do
