Machines | Are German cars reliable? What IS "German Engineering?"

Please watch: "NEW BMW M2 Coupe & REVVING at 2016 Detroit Auto Show" ➨ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyT0HYtDfu4 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- People think German cars are reliable and they can be great but there is a BIG dark side that nobody talks about. Let's talk about it. What is German Engineering? Why do I keep seeing brand new Mercedes Benz on tow trucks? Why has Porsche sold cars with potential catastrophic engine failures for about a decade? Why do they also seem like they tend to try to weasel out of warranty claims? Meanwhile, why is this "German Engineering" myth still being perpetuated? IS it a myth? I will do a full detailed video in the future. They are absolutely stunning machines and a joy to drive. To own, well, as long as you have an extra few thousands to throw around when something goes bad like windshield wiper sensor or something of that nature, then by all means go get it! I think the best deal is to own them under warranty and then get rid of them like most people with money do. If you are just a regular Joe like me trying to get by and work hard for a living, DO NOT BUY IT! You will regret it in the future when something beeaks. Unless you know how and enjoy working on cars.

fucking clickbait.

The Japanese Cars will last longer than reign of Adolf Hitler.
-
I had a 2006 Audi A3. absolute blast to drive, great performance, great mileage. spotty reliability. That cam follower on the 2.0T FSI engine is its Achilles heel.
-
Personal experience. 98 A4 running 25 psi boost, tune with the goodies. Issue free for 240k, aside from scheduled maintenance. Slays a Mustang GT without hesitation. Beautiful design and rugged design. 10/10

German engineering is money making engineering. It requires a different mindset. Those who benefit from it praise it, unlike those who don't.
-
Well that was a waste of my time.

DAS Rubbish ENGINEERING
German Engineering USED to be the best! VW -
Japanese cars are the most reliable
-
i drive a 1995 VolksWagen Beetle made in Mexico, and is reliable, simple, easy to fix, difficult to break, and runs well in all weather, specially in heavy rain, i have seen many cars on the side of the road due water in the engine or wet cables, any questions.

So I bought my first American made vehicle after telling others to never do it. For years and it blew the engine in start up I will never trust my countrymen to ever create a vehicle again

My 2010 911 spends more time with the dealer than me, even when bought brand new. This is my second 911. Just about every month it's something new. Luckily I have had zero problems with the PDK trans made by Aisin, lighting tech by Koito, and several other Japanese components. It's a love-hate relationship. Fantastic performance but a nightmare to own.

LOL! I added a thumbs up for this video, it really needed it.

No they're not! Japanese cars are very reliable! :) we all know that :)

Lamborghini's aren't German...

owning a bmw is very mechanically intensive. i bought a 98 528i and like he said parts would fall off and stop working here and there. i feel like they try to make the cars o too much at one time the newer they get and that just offer a larger array of stuff to focus on which diminishes the overall solidarity of the vehicle. older german cars seem to be a lot more tanky than the newer ones once all the ridiculous electronics were introduced. the great thing is that when "German Engineering" all works at the same time it works REALLY well. for example, after delivering pizzas and living in the city for 2 years my suspension was SHOT! i replaced the entire suspension myself(not too expensively since i did the labor myself) and the car handled like a dream. but why did it fall apart in the fist place? all aluminum(flexy) suspension with weak connections on soft rubber bushings supporting a very heavy car. it's like they miss foresight on a lot of their products

German engineering:
Mercedes:
- first automobile. patent number 37435
- first electric powered car
- first supercharged engine
- first 4-wheel independant suspension
- invented crumple zone
- invented ESP
- invented ABS
- invented pre-safe
- invented internal combustion engine
- first diesel powered passenger car
- first car with direct fuel injection
- first cars with Airbags
....
that was only Mercedes. Mercedes - the best or nothing! -
I have owned three BMW's, and they are very rewarding cars to drive. However, you're not going to get a toaster on wheels appliance like a Toyota or Honda that never breaks. I feel German cars are built to handle well, and drive good. Therefore you have higher tolerances in parts that need to be changed more often. Basically, if a suspension piece went out on a Toyota, you would hardly notice. In a German car, as soon as something goes out, you know it. That's how good they drive.
German cars are like hot chicks. They are fun, but they cost a lot of money to keep around. So, have fun if you buy one, but you have to pay to play. -
I think the term "German Engineering" is quite racist. Engineering at its finest can be achieved in any country by any person with the suitable tools and know how. We are always quick to condemn people who use negative stereotypes to describe people from a certain country but we don't condemn those that use positive stereotypes. It's double standards.

Mercedes Benz, and Porsche are reliable. Volkswagon, Audi, and BMW aren't so reliable.
