1. I don't know about America, but in Australia that company would be fined somewhere on the order of a hundred thousand dollars, over and above the cost of fixing the damage.
   
   Aus. has a central database of buried services such as water, sewage, gas, electric and telephone cables along with a very strict reporting and permit system to control who digs where and when, and to keep a record of what goes where.

This road crew look like some illegals who don't speak English, they don't even understand what's happening and I got news for you metermatch; linemen don't have half the training real electricians do.. 14. As aretired Verizon Splicer we have hit Hi Voltage buried six inches under an asphalt road! Yup a beautiful fireball blinded the lot off us for a few seconds,scared the crap out of us. s So all you experts ,were we supposed to call the El.Utility or "ass u me" whomever buried the friggin thing gave a crap who he may kill?
15. All it takes is one sub contractor. ONE. to actually give a shit about what's in the ground and what they are digging around, and these kind of damages will be non existent. Although locating buried facilities isn't exactly rocket science, but you are expecting them to be 100% accurate. That ain't going to happen. How about help us out... see that mark on the ground? Why don't you pothole it and see if the marks are on, if not, CALL THE LOCATOR. Do NOT blind bore. We're human... just like you.
