The great thing about GM back then is that they had their own engineering college, General Motors Institute. You would work half a year in a sponsoring GM plant, and then you'd study half a year. It took 5-1/2 years to graduate, but you were paid to go there - and given full GM salary benefits at age 18.
The school is now called Kettering Institute, and other companies besides GM sponsor students. Student Loans? Nah! -
LOL that engine painting. covering your face and flywheel is for pussies.

Which city is worse today (2014), Detroit or Pittsburgh?

Wow. If the federal Reserve would never been created, America would be far far richer country then any can imagine. What a wonderful thing.

FANTASTIC old vid. So darn kewl !

Yep. I'm from there .I remember when we were one of the richest cites in the nation. However, the majority of the auto factories moved out of the city, and moved into the other areas. Michigan itself is still a industrial powerhouse for autos and those supportive industries related to it. Looking at Detroit's failures without looking at the rest of the state's solutions to those failures, of which became great successes would be a illusion.
-
And today Detroit has become one of the worst cities on the planet.
-
This really shows how over populated we really are now.

Simply wonderful!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!
