Machines | Air Crash Investigation - S1E2 - Unlocking Disaster [United Airlines Flight 811]
videos | at work | information | view | construction
On 24 February 1989, United Airlines Flight 811 was flying above the Pacific Ocean when part of the right-side fuselage was ripped off, ejecting nine people from the aircraft and causing explosive decompression. The flight later landed safely at Honolulu without any more loss of life. An electrical short circuit caused the cargo door to open, creating the explosive decompression. Laura Brentlinger is kinda hot. Nice MILF there!
-
the cockpit crews are way too calm, specially in the first half of the film
. bad acting... -
Kudos to the flight crew and the passengers!! RIP to the ones that were lost and may our hearts and prayers go out to them and their loved ones. I know this was quite a few years ago. However, I'm sure that, to the survivors, their families, the deceased and their families, it probably feels like yesterday.

GOVERNMENT FAIL...........
-
This should not have happened in a 747. Wtf?
-
Bribes = Air Safety
... in the corrupt 3rd world usa. -
did it ever occur to anyone that the ntsb initially came to another conclusion because of the "documents we were not directly supposed to take"? why the fuck is nobody talking about that? they just took information the ntsb would have needed to investigate properly
-
I like the older episodes more action less talking but the guy in the brown shirt is dramatic
-
Who is the guy speaking the story? love his video's.
-
The Campbell's are also heroes. It took their determination, time, money, effort, travel, etc. to do something the NTSB couldn't or wouldn't. How many other times (in all aspects of life), has this occurred, that have negatively affected human life/lives in history? I'm not so sure about the Campbell's taking (stealing?) documents though.....

David Cronin is a hero.
-
Did anybody else noticed that the narrator also portrayed the co-pilot,and it's not the only episode where he does so.
-

unadulterated pandemonium....
-
Fuck profit over people.
-
Yeah very cool people the Campbells so in awe of them how they hung tough and just kept going to get such a great result, what you hope any parent would do for their child

"Why didn't the FAA force the airlines to comply faster?" Because then a significant number of people would cry "liberal government overreach trying to protect us from ourselves." This was 1989 - not exactly a good year for a government entity to force a private entity to do much of anything. One of the constants in human nature is that catastrophe motivates people to make changes that they might consider too onerous otherwise. It's as simple as that. It's just another manifestation of the constant tension between liberty and security - it's never going to go away.
