The Adventist Development and Relief Agency Ghana (ADRA) in collaboration with Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans company has assisted four farmers to acquire secondhand Massey Ferguson tractors in the northern region. The acquisition is expected to ease the challenges the farmers have in accessing tractor services in their communities. Access to land preparation services in the Northern regions is a major challenge for most smallholder farmers, which has led to many of them not being able to prepare their fields on time to make use of the limited rainfall period for better yields. In a bid to mitigate this challenge, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has in collaboration with Sinapi Aba, a financial institution, acquired four tractors for farmers. Sinapi Aba provided the GHC40, 000 loan which is payable within 24 to 36 months by the farmers. Isaac Kankam Boadu is the Project Manager for the Integrated Agricultural Productivity Improvement and Marketing Project. He encouraged the beneficiaries to be faithful in their payments and also ensure regular maintenance of the tractors. The Agric Programmes Coordinator for Sinapi Aba, Alfred Bukari also spoke on some other incentives for farmers in the Northern Region. Some of the beneficiaries expressed their excitement at receiving the tractors and pledged to use it to assist communities in the operational areas. From Tamale, Noah Nash for Viasat 1 News
