Machines | Accident Nearly Caused by Dump Truck on Hwy 401 - June 23, 2016
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Hwy 401 eastbound just before Wesleyville Rd. exit (before Port Hope) on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at approximately 5:30pm. Dump truck (Francis Haulage) working on Aecon's jobsite enters live lane unsafely in front of my car. Driver's view was blocked by shuttle buggy (large white machine) therefore they should not have entered live lane at slow speed like they did, it would have been impossible for them to see me. Also my view of the dump truck was blocked by the same machine until just coming up to and passing it. When the dump truck pulled out I was forced to brake and change lanes to avoid a possible collision. I'm very lucky I wasn't a few seconds ahead of where I was and that no car was directly behind me or beside me so I could safely move into the right lane. The dump truck then proceeded to change lanes into the right lane after I passed it, then exit at Wesleyville Rd.

Ya I agree with the others here. Had you been in the right lane like you where supposed to be you wouldn't have had a problem. Before complaining about others check yourself. I don't see that the dump truck did anything wrong. You saw him well in advance with more than enough time. Especially considering the speed limit was 80 in a construction zone.

Keep right except to pass. How difficult is that? Too much for you obviously. You're in the wrong lane for almost the whole five minute video which says all that needs to be said about the standard of your driving. The dump truck leaves you more than enough room to move over or stop completely long before you are in any danger of making contact. Should all such sites have traffic control to stop you completely to let site vehicles move? Maybe expecting a little commonsense from ON drivers is asking too much? Or maybe you are just truckbashing? The truck driver can see you just fine in his mirror, I can clearly see his mirrors in the video, and he can also see that you have room to move right into the lane you should be in anyway. Suck it up, buttercup and get some driving lessons yourself.

Why are you driving in the passing lane anyway.. move over to the right lane
