Machines | Abandoned mill attic time capsule 1800s mystery box found
videos | at work | information | view | construction
I come across an abandoned mill that is filled with mysteries .This place dates from atleast late 1800s but it does have a mid century style to it . The top floor is a small textile mill with all the machinery left behind .Mysterious sealed box filled from 100 years ago .Very old original signs .

"Before there was electricity" LOL!!!! Those are lineshaft pulleys in the one crate. The wood pulleys aren't necessarily that old, you could buy them up til the 30's. The clue to what the place was is on the door. A heddle is some type of gizmo for weaving that they must have produced there.

Right where you 1st walked in, & said "Here's an old table" that was a telephone desk. The phone would be the wood crank style, & the directory laid on the desk (along with a notepad & pencil) The can was paint, lead base house paint, & would still be useable I would think (or it would be a rock hard lump). The "mystery box" would have been mounting hardware for those machines. Parts for setting them up. The large box you opened & called "gears" were actually wheels for a Hand Truck.(there was other things too but you picked up a H.T. wheel) A now long closed & tore down factory I worked in had antique Hand Trucks with wheels just like it. Thanks for posting it, & bravery on the rickety stairs.

An old weaving room. Probably made burlap bags, horse blankets, that sort of thing. Cool.

The one machine was a printing press

Cool stuff but you have a horrible concept of time period nothing in there is from before the 1890s if that and if so it was in amazing condition, most of it though was from 1920s and after though, it is a shame that people would vandalise a place like that, what I recommend is you contact a historian or some one at a museum and see if the can collect what is left before it is destroyed by vandals or decay

I would guess the machines are old printing equipment
-
Not a textile mill..... Textile mill supplies....not the same thing.
-
that's an old print shop

I was really surprised you didn't try to open the box..I would be dying of curiosity. However, I think its wonderful that you had respect for private property. This was a amazing explore, absolutely fascinating and so full of history and mystery. I like the way you handle the camera, very thorough and slow enough for us to see what's there. Of course, the update was upsetting and disgusting that people feel free to vandal and steal. Thank you for the explore and look forward to the next one.

it's a old printing shop.

From what the sign says outside it looks like they manufactured equipment for textile mills.
-
They look like printing presses to me

Awesome, how did you hear about this place?

What did you film this with, a potato? Seriously though, cool stuff but it would look better though a decent camera.
