DOH!! Well.....the sparks are kinda pretty. :( On a manual machine, I'm the brains behind the handles. On the cnc, I have no handles and apparently, I'm not the brains either!! lol Andy and I found out the next day that it knocked the head out of alignment and started cutting on a taper. It's fixed now, but we spent a couple of hours fighting with that problem. It is fast at calculating how many parts can be cut from stock & how much stock to order.

Yeah, more like you need to get the Stupidity out of your brain. Take the time to proof your code before you get headstrong and record a video of a first time program. Also, get a proper E-stop, for your sake as well as anyone else around you.

I'm using LinuxCNC... I prefer it over Mach. I guess partially because I can modify the software to do what I want it to. And yeah... when its your machine the "pucker factor" is much higher. I have a manual lathe... and a second that i want to convert to CNC. I have a CNC Mill... got that all figured out... but doing the G-Code for the lathe is going to be interesting. Hmmm i was thinking that that was going to be much worse than it actually was before the crash. I was thinking that the tool would crash hard into one of the jaws and either destroy the tool and tool post of stop the chuck weary violently.

a few years ago, I was trying to troubleshoot a lumber planer when a part was acting like a bearing had failed. well long story short a 10 inch carbide saw took left hand little finger, All machines are made to do what they do. and until they COMPLETELY STOP they will continue to just that. if I had been wearing gloves at the time, i think i could have lost all my fingers and or half my hand. I do make jokes about my "Bozo moment". now I can say I am Digitally Enhanced.! i can just see someone reaching in a lathe or mill to remove chips ect. with gloves on, and really mess the hand up in a hart-beat. or worse... SO, PLEASE, EVERYONE! TAKE YOUR TIME! DO NOT GET IN A HURRY! YOUR BODY PARTS WILL BE SORELY MISSED! We all will have those Bozo moments in our life. With the loss of my little finger I also lost about 10% of my hand strength. I also had to adapt some new typing skills among other things. I am feel very lucky that the damage wasn't much worse.

Well, that was underwhelming! No blood. No sudden puddles of oil. You need to put some gears back in just for the special effects, especially if you aren't prone to cuss enough. If yer not gonna provide any drama then you might as well stock up on Nerf ® shear keys. >:)

have your leadscrew motor trip the whole circuit at a certain voltage, so you can avoid crashes automatically and quicker

Hey do not blame Mach3! There is a saying in Swedish = Shit in = Shit out
Mach3 does exactly what you order it to to, been there done that with my lathe running with Mach3
