The 14th November, 2015, saw LMS Princess Coronation Class Pacific no. 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' return to the capital at the head of PMR Tour's 'The London Explorer', from Leicester to London Euston via Derby, Walsall, Birmingham International and Northampton and back (with Steam Derby - Euston - Derby) First off, we see The Duchess passing through Leighton Buzzard, with the safety open, coasting along through the station. Unfortunately, the shot was interrupted by a Northampton bound service due to 46233 being 4 minutes ahead of schedule..! Secondly, after catching a fast service down to London behind the train, a few close up views of the Duchess whilst sat at London Euston, it's destination for the rail trip. There was definitely alot of work carried out by the crews and support members to get the loco shining and sparkling! Next, it was off to Southall, where I was able to access the fast line platforms due to engineering works on the slow line, and the Duchess and it's train are seen being towed backwards by the rear 47 (47832) into the loop, where the consist would reverse, and head into the Loco Services depot, where her fire would be cleaned and other points of the engine to be serviced. Later in the evening, 'Duchess of Sutherland' accelerates from a signal check just outside, at Ealing Broadway, on it's way back to Euston to begin it's return journey. Last, but not least, she is then seen again back at Euston, where it would pick up passengers, and then would depart, climbing Camden Bank, home towards Derby via the same route as the outward journey. Apologies for the departure clip being quite short, I had planned to get another shot of the train at Milton Keynes Central after leaving, so I cut it short before running for my train which was 7 minutes later, but someone with us got on the wrong train, so when we had got off at Watford, to wait for them to arrive on the next train, the Duchess sped past and we missed it...!
