The 2015 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Crew Cab 4x4. This was one of two vehicles entered into the “Extreme Capabilty” category competing in the Northwest Automotive Press Association’s Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year. With a 6.4L V8 engine producing 410 Horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, it’s competing against the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. Starting with the drawbacks, it’s nearly two thousand pounds heavier than the Toyota, at 6700 lbs. It’s so large in fact that it’s labeled as a heavy duty vehicle and not required to have an EPA fuel economy rating, so you can imagine how poor of gas mileage it gets. That said, it was the journalists pick against the 4Runner, winning best Extreme Capability vehicle by a single vote. It’s incredibly capable off-road, offers plenty of all-terrain technology, has a towing capacity of 10,000 lbs, a staggering 14.3 inches of ground clearance, and is overall just a monster off the beaten path. This vehicle was tested as part of the 2015 Northwest Automotive Press Association’s Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year competition.
