One from the archives..... This was our entrant into the 2010 Perth Electric Vehicle Challenge, only our second year of competition. The Event: Competitors are tasked with building electric vehicles that can only run off 432 watt/hours of battery energy. The race is for an hour and placing is determined by how many laps are completed in that time. Our Vehicle: Killa-Volt was constructed mainly out of steel tubes meant for use as water pipes and featured an innovative tilt steering solution that enabled us to keep the front wheels flat while the rear section tilted like a motorbike. The car was powered by 3 12V 12aH Sealed Lead Acid Batteries, an Allltrax 4834 DC Motor Controller and an Etek motor. Our car placed 9th out of 56 and won the Design and Engineering Award for its innovative tilt-steering.
