While like you, I'd like to see to the fetch on this baby, collectors would probably be scrappin in the lot to bid on it. I'd hazard to guess it to be about low 6 figures probably 125 or so, maybe 150 tops. But also like you, John Deere would be insane to let this tractor go, they'd have to go bust (which that's not likely to ever happen), before this tractor ever hit the auction lot....

should display at louisville farm show
-
I love 4450 and 4440

The first millionth tractor is a 60.Does anyone know if it is still in existance & if so were it might be?
-
is it a power shift

I was lucky to be working at John Deere Waterloo Wks when that was built. They made a big deal of it back then. It was hard times for the farm economy and Deere.

IH built their 3,000,000 in 1955 and their 5,000,000 in the seventies. JD is a tad behind.

1981.....2 million.....how many now in 2016? Would be interesting.

The 4440 is one of my all time favorite tractors. That is neat that it was the 2 Millionth John Deere built at Waterloo.
-
Is it just me or does this guy sound 100% like Barack Obama?
-
this was the 2 millionth tractor John Deere made or 4440?

Thanks a whole bunch Machinery Pete. I wonder how they shipped them ( 4440, 4960, 7810) to Texas. Possibly bubble wrapped and shrink wrapped on semi flat bed's so road debris wouldn't harm them?
-
I saw the last 4020 to roll off the line at Waterloo, it was still on the factory floor in 1984?
-
She's a beauty 4sure.

I see more 4430s around these parts in central Indiana. I spent many of hours with my grandpa in one. I would love to sit in that cab and take one whiff.

people buy certain brands of tractors because they can get parts, the tractors are made of steel not flesh so an oldie is a goodie if its in good nick and it suits the user, my massey 1080 is what I use, no fuss easy to fix and parts readily available or can be made or retrofit parts from a later model. this JD could be on a new sale lot and no one would believe its that old.

awesome!

Does this tractor have A/C?
-
That tractor was on display when we toured the component works in downtown waterloo in 1995. That's where they build the front axles and transmissions. The old waterloo boy line is used to build tooling. They chose the 4440 model because it was the most popular model sold the year it was produced. The had several other models on display too.
