Machines | 1980 AMC Eagle and 1966 GMC dump truck

Main focus here is on my friend Fred's 1966 GMC dump truck. Fred has had this truck since 1970. He uses it for work all the time, well, actually, when salt is on the road, the truck gets parked for the season. It has a 366 cubic inch engine, 2-barrel carburetor, manual transmission, and a two-speed rear axle. The modern updates? Electronic ignition by Petronix, and a rear view camera, and radial ply tires. This truck passes emissions tests with flying colors!

Have a dump truck exactly like that at work, although it has the 305 v6 in it, (which is a DOG!) Not sure how much I care for the two speed rear end, though... Only adds about 5mph extra, and it is a pain in the ass to get it back into the lower gear lol

Al, please see what I wrote below, I entered the wrong 'reply'

And you are very correct on this one Al. People do call him. And have lots of stories to tell Fred when he comes over with screenings or topsoil. The swan hood ornament is a real conversation piece. He will be giving it a repaint, it is getting faded, but I think it makes the truck look a lot more legit! The little center caps on the back wheels are from a 1981 Reliant K-car by the way!

When you go to this farm to escape, you are going back in time and leaving a lot of concerns at the gate. The old cars, trucks and other stuff are great therapy. Wait till I do a movie of the stuff in the barns! Fred uses this truck three seasons of the year, it is a work truck still! The big-block is so smooth.

And the fact this one is used in three saesons and still shows a pretty face when displayed makes old stuff like this even more loveable! Thanks!

I love those classic trucks :)

That generation of Chevy/GMC trucks were so 'sculpted' in the bodywork department, very sweet designs. The 400 from the Catalina with it's torque must really move the stepside smartly! Gotta get some pictures of it Kevin!
