the old eucs were the best they last longer than any new junk out...learned old-school and nothing changed my mind

Out with the old, in with the new. But the old equipment was very cool. Just the sound and raw power was awesome, before OSHA, EPA, and dweebs with laptops.

AH! That engine sound! I haven't heard that since I was a kid. My dad used to drive these and the R85 in Pennsylvania . Got to ride in the 85. That would have been 76 or so.

I drove a brand new r50 in 1972 and spent many hours hauling iron ore from a Minnesota mine. In the summer I drove truck and then in the winter went to college. This truck was so well built even I couldn't destroy it.
Every so often the soot caught fire in the hallow box channels would catch fire and shoot flames out the back of the box. You needed to avoid driving near wooded areas or wood buildings tell it burned itself out. Then a few months later you would get another fire. I have many memories of the fine machine, too bad your truck is going for scrap. -
Its to bad these were scrapped :(

PS Where was this shot?

Having V-71 power, I would guess the build date would had to have been pre-1975 because anything later would've had a 92 in it; is that right?
Anyway, it's a bitchin' truck. Thanks for sharing it with us -- and for saving it from the scrappers by doing so, evidently. -
I believe you, this one was safe enough, the brakes worked well and it had a transmission retarder. however the dump cylinders you mentioned might have been an issue. if I remember correctly the one in the video shot hydraulic fluid over the hood out of the third stage seal. the other one I ran had a 600 horse cummins swapped in but the brakes faded throughout the day so you had to adjust the slack adjusters at least once a day. I hear ya man they aren't without problems at 60 years old.

also the last Drew I met didn't like them either but he was a cheese eating faggot. im hoping your reason is better

yeah the 6x6's are cadillacs for sure and they go anywhere, are quieter, more comfortable, and a bit easier to drive. but c'mon get that sand out of your vagina. that Euclid is probably older than the building the komatsu was designed in! and it sill worked really well despite leaking out of every tank but the fuel tank. and in person that twin v8 sound is awesome.

will do, i see euclids once in a while so ill keep you in mind!

Well that is half good news but far better than hearing it went to the melting pot. If you hear of more such old haul trucks under threat could you tell me about them? I have a decent home for them and a couple hours a day work for them to enjoy till my days to are numbered
-
well it was a 201 LD original down to the mud flaps, and i bitched enough to get my boss to look a little harder and find it a home where it works. thanks for the offer though! shes alive!

Please don't let them cut this old girl up I'll buy it for more than scrap and tires. Could I have a phone number?
